The 10K Training Program is geared towards adults who can run 3 continuous mile who would like to increase their running endurance to 6.2 miles (10k). The coach will train you to run 10 kilometer (6.2 mile) race by building your endurance with a combination of walking and running over time. In addition, the training offers the benefits of improved cardiovascular fitness, reduced adverse health factors, safe training methods, and fun! The target graduation race is the Springburst 10K in Glenn Dale along the WB&A Trail on April 13, 2019. Race registration is not included in the program fee.
The program consists of two formal workouts per week, Tuesday evenings at Ludwig Field (UMD – College Park) and Saturday mornings at Glenn Dale Splash park, during which all participants will train as a group with the coach. Participants are encouraged to run on their own or with a scheduled club run for one additional day during the week.
The cost of the training program is $40. The fee covers the cost of group activities.
All participants are required to be current members or to join the Prince Georges Running Club.
The target graduation race is the Springburst 10K in Glenn Dale along the WB&A Trail on April 13, 2019. The fee for the graduation race IS NOT included in the cost of the training program. This fee must be paid separately by each participant prior to the race. More information on the graduation race registration process will be provided to program participants prior to the end of the training program.
