Half-Marathon Program

July 25th – November 14th, 2026

2017 Half Marathon Group

The sixteen (16) week Half Marathon Training Program is geared toward walkers and runners who would like to challenge themselves and safely build mileage and endurance to complete a half marathon (13.1 miles).  The program will offer the benefits of improved cardiovascular fitness, reduced adverse health factors, and safe training methods. The target graduation race is the Richmond Half Marathon on November 14, 2026.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

The half-marathon training program will include 4 weekly runs:

  1. Sundays at 7:00 am – Mission BBQ, Greenbelt (Google Maps Link)
  2. Tuesdays at 6:30 pm – PGCC Track, Largo (Google Maps Link)
  3. Thursdays at 6:30 pm – Herbert Wells Ice Rink, College Park (Google Maps Link)
  4. Saturdays at 7:00 am – Greenbelt Park (Sweetgum Parking Lot), Greenbelt (Google Maps Link)

The program costs $70 and will include snacks, water, and  a T-shirt.  Upon completion of the program, we will have a celebratory brunch! 

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

  • Participants must be at least 18 years old
  • Ability to walk/run 3 miles
  • Active PGRC Club membership status
  • Participants are required to volunteer at one club event during the program.

MEMBERSHIP STATUS

All participants are required to be current members of or to join the Prince Georges Running Club.

GRADUATION RACE

Registration for the graduation race is not included with the training registration.
