August 6th – November 19th, 2022
The sixteen (16) week Half Marathon Training Program is geared toward walkers and runners who would like to challenge themselves and safely build mileage and endurance to complete a half marathon (13.1 miles). The program will offer the benefits of improved cardiovascular fitness, reduced adverse health factors, and safe training methods. The target graduation race is the Dietz & Watson Philadelphia Half Marathon on November 19, 2022.
The program consists of four (4) workouts per week, during which all participants will train as a group with the head coaches or join the club members for a standing club run. We recommend that participants join standing club workouts on either Tuesday or Thursday at Herbert Wells Ice Rink for the second/third workout. Coaches and/or Pace Leaders will attend the Tuesday workout with participants.
The program will also include race simulation runs, where extra hydration and fuel will be provided.
- Participants must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to walk/run 3 miles
- Active PGRC Club membership status
- Participants are required to volunteer at one club event during the program.
All participants are required to be current members or to join the Prince Georges Running Club.
Registration for the graduation race is not included with the training registration.
