The Half Marathon Training Program is a sixteen-week program which aims to gradually and safely build up participants’ mileage and endurance, while also incorporating some half marathon specific speedwork. The target graduation race is the Annapolis Running Classic Half Marathon, although we welcome those that are training for other half marathons.
Participants will be encouraged to complete four workouts per week, which will include group runs with the coaches, joining existing club runs, and also optional independent runs. Key workouts will include long runs on Sundays at 7 am (meeting point at Mission BBQ in Greenbelt) and track nights on Tuesdays at 6:45 pm at University of Maryland, College Park Kehoe track. Further scheduled workouts will include hill and strength work at Greenbelt Park on Saturday mornings at 7 am, and group runs on Thursdays at 6:30 pm (meeting point at Herbert Wells Ice Rink in College Park).
The program will also include race simulation runs, where extra hydration and fuel will be provided.
Participants must be at least 18 years old and able to run 3 miles.
All participants are required to be current members or to join the Prince Georges Running Club.
