PGRC is teaming up with College Park parkrun for a Juneteenth 5K, this Saturday, June 19, at 9 am.
There are 3 meetups associated with this event, and you are invited to join any or all of them.

1. This Thursday evening  (June 17) at 7 pm, meet up for a little chalking party on the Paint Branch Trail, at Acredale Park. The goal is just to adorn the trail ahead of Saturday, because Saturday will be very warm! Bring friends, bring kids, bring anyone who likes to chalk. Bring your ideas for quotes to share on the trail, and/or images that you’d like to try to recreate (does anyone feel up to the challenge of drawing Frederick Douglass?). We’ll bring the chalk and popsicles. The weather for Thursday evening looks beautiful.

2. Saturday, 9 am, the Juneteenth-themed parkrun 5k. This is the regular parkrun course, which begins at Acredale Park (4200 Metzerott Rd, College Park) right on the Paint Branch Trail. It is going to be a warm morning, so please make sure to bring your own water! We will not be bringing a big jug of water that 150 people all touch. The event is free, but you will need to bring your parkrun barcode if you want your name and time in the official results. To register for a parkrun barcode: www.parkrun.us/collegepark. You will receive your barcode in a file via email. Print it out and bring it on Saturday. If you’re already registered for parkrun, but lost your barcode, you can look it up here: www.parkrun.com/signin (if you’ve never set a password on your parkrun account, follow the instructions at the bottom of that page).

3. Saturday, 10:30 am -12:00 pm, post-5k picnic. Since it’s going to be a hot one, we’ll gather in the ample shade behind The Varsity building in College Park — way back behind the building, next to the stream (near the pedestrian bridge). You can order breakfast treats or iced coffee from The Board and Brew (on the bottom floor of The Varsity) or Vigilante (next door to The Varsity), or your favorite College Park venue and then carry them back to the stream.
