Join us on October 13 for the next installation of our Federal Holiday Fun Run Series!
As always, we welcome all ages, paces, and abilities – including walkers! Friends, family, and leashed dogs are welcome. Don’t forget to wear your PGRC gear if you have it!
Date: Monday, October 13, 2025
Time: 7:45 am for introductions. Run starts at 8:00 am.
Location: Patuxent Research Refuge
Route: Choose from either a trail run around the lake or a hilly paved loop!
Cash Lake Loop Trail is a 1.8 mile flat loop around the lake. Loved by bird watchers and fisherfolk, this is an easy introduction into trail running. The trail is part gravel fire road, part wooded trail, but is clear, wide, and flat. Trail includes a short section of wooden boardwalk and short section of floating bridge. Not recommended for strollers.
Scarlet Tanager Loop is a 5k running from the parking lot up to Powder Mill Rd. and back down the other side of the Loop. Uphill one way, downhill the other. Scarlet Tanager is the paved single lane access road to the research refuge (no sidewalks). It is a single lane loop with low speed one way vehicle traffic for refuge visitors. We’ll run against traffic for safety. Strollers permitted at your own discretion.
Parking: Free and ample.
No RSVP needed.
See you on the trail!
