September – November 2019
The 8K winter Running Program is a two-month training program, for adults of all ages and abilities, which will train you to run an 8 kilometer (4.97-mile) race. The program will build your endurance with a combination of walking and running over time. In addition, the program will offer the benefits of improved cardiovascular fitness, reduced adverse health factors, safe training methods, and fun! The target graduation race is the Wright Stuff 8K.
The program consists of two formal workouts per week, Tuesday evenings at Ludwig Field (UMD – College Park) and Saturday mornings at Greenbelt Park, during which all participants will train as a group with the head coaches. Participants are encouraged to run on their own or with a scheduled club run for one additional day during the week.
The cost of the training program is $40. The training program fee covers the cost of group activities.
All participants are required to join the Prince George’s Running Club if not already a member of the club.
NOTE: Race registration is not included in the training program fee.
