Train for this year’s Marathon Corps Marathon or another fall/winter 26.2 race with PGRC! Join our fall marathon training program that kicks off on Saturday, July 14, 2018.
The PGRC Fall Marathon training program is an 18 week program for experienced runners. This program is not intended for new runners. By the start of the program on July 14, runners should have a base weekly mileage of at least 20 miles including a long run of at least 10 miles. Combinations of run/walks are great to use during pre-training because they ease your body into the exercise and minimize the chance of experiencing a running injury.
The Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) is the target race. You can training for other late October or November marathons. This program does not give you entry into the MCM or any other race.

Are you a walker or beginning runner that is interested in running a 5K by the end of the summer? There’s time to join this year’s Running Start Program!
PGRC Running Start is an 8-week training program for walkers and beginning runners who want to learn to run, build their endurance and complete a 5K (3.1 mile) race. PGRC’s Women’s Distance Festival 5k and Men’s 5k on Sunday, August 12, 2018 is the targeted graduation race. REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN and will close on June 30, 2018.

Looking for training programs this winter? PGRC has lots of options for you! In addition to the informal winter marathon program, there are also programs to train for an 8K race and a 10-miler!
10-Mile Club Challenge Training
In preparation for the RRCA Club Challenge on February 25, 2018, Coaches Dave Roeder and Ndegwa Kamau will lead an informal 10 mile training program starting Saturday, January 6, 2018. The training schedule calls for 4 days per week to allows us to train for the longer distances on a flat course and then focus on the hills in Greenbelt Park with a shorter course. Winter 8K Training
The 8K winter Running Program is a two-month training program, for adults of all ages and abilities, which will train you to run an 8 kilometer (4.97-mile) race. The program will build your endurance with a combination of walking and running over time. In addition, the program will offer the benefits of improved cardiovascular fitness, reduced adverse health factors, safe training methods, and fun! Registration is now open for the Club Challenge 10M on February 25, 2018. The race is open only to members of Maryland and DC RRCA clubs, so please make sure you are a current PGRC member before you register.
PGRC is offering a free training program to prepare you for the race. The group meets during four of our regular club runs (track nights on Tuesdays at 6:45pm, Thursday 6:30pm runs at Herbert Wells Ice Arena, Saturday Greenbelt Park at 8am, and long runs Sunday 8am at Mission BBQ in Greenbelt). The first run will be January 6, 8am at Greenbelt Park.
